HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii News Now has learned of a third location confirmed to have birds infected with or exposed to avian flu.

The Department of Agriculture said the Animal Industry Division euthanized nine birds from a backyard flock on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

Officials said a family adopted two ducks that came from Susie’s Duck Sanctuary in Wahiawa before an outbreak there.

The two adopted ducks tested positive for avian flu, were quarantined at a private veterinary hospital, and euthanized.

Seven other ducks at the family’s property were also euthanized.

The property was sanitized and no other infections have been reported.
