Calling all Hawaii high school students: Study in Vietnam this summer
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - All Hawaii high school students are invited to apply to spend two weeks in Vietnam on a Freeman Summer Study Tour with the Pacific & Asian Affairs Council (PAAC), a Hawaii-based global education nonprofit that nurtures the next generation of leaders.
Students will travel to Hoi An, Hue, and Ha Noi to explore global issues and Vietnamese culture through the theme “Cultivating Resilient Communities” from June 7–23, 2025.
They will:
- Visit important sites rich with history and culture such as My Son Sanctuary, the Imperial Citadel, and the Temple of Literature.
- Take part in hands-on activities such as pottery making and Vietnamese cooking.
- Connect with organizations like the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation and Vụn Art, gaining insights into how communities support each other through challenges.
- Enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine and build lifelong friendships with peers who share a passion for global learning.
Applications are due by Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

The Freeman Foundation offers merit- and need-based financial aid to cover estimated travel costs of $4,200–$4,500.
