HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Starting January 21, Roy’s Waikiki will bring back lunch service from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Roy’s Waikiki Executive Chef Jason Ichiki joined HNN’s Sunrise to talk about some of the lunch menu items, including his certified angus beef burger, ahi carpaccio, chirashi, “hapa” monte cristo, and frying dragon roll.

Ichiki, who was born and raised on Oahu, says his love for cooking began when he was in high school and was inspired by his grandmother Nancy and her expertise in cooking eggs.

“I could never make eggs like her. As many times as I’ve tried, I could never master it,” said Ichiki, who earned his culinary arts degree from the University Of Hawaii Leeward College and was mentored by Linda Yamada. He’s been with Roy’s for 20 years, 11 as the executive chef at the Waikiki location.

Roy’s Waikiki is located at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk at 226 Lewers St. Free valet parking available for lunch diners from 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
