Celebrities tee off in Hawaii for Sony Open week
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Monday marked the official start for the 2025 Sony Open week, and with round one of the tournament just days away, celebrities were out and about for week’s event-filled lineup.
Emmy award-winning actor Jon Hamm is one of the celebrities who will be teeing off in Wednesday’s Pro-Am.
He also competed in Monday’s Dream Cup Pro-Am.
“It’s a beautiful day for golf and such a great event that gives so much back to the community,” Hamm said. “The people of Sony were kind enough to ask me to come on down to play. It’s my second time coming down here to play golf, so I dig it.”
Ralph Macchio, famous for his role in “The Karate Kid” and “Cobra Kai” franchises, hit the green Monday for a golf lesson with Waialae Country Club’s head pro.
“I played baseball as a kid,” said Macchio. “You lean back and you look for your home run or your double down the line as opposed to shifting that weight forward. It’s just instinctively finding that and not over emphasizing it.”
Round one of the Sony Open begins Jan. 9, and the final round will be on Jan. 12.
It will be the PGA’s first full-field event of the year.
