Professional Experience: News Intern at WPDE ABC15 in Conway, S.C., Multimedia Journalist at WPDE ABC15 from 2022-2024.

News Philosophy: My news philosophy is centered on forming genuine and sincere relationships with community members and the subjects I cover, as well as being the voice for those who feel theirs isn’t heard. I believe journalism serves as a platform to hold others accountable and is a resource for overlooked or silenced communities in society. I believe journalism isn’t just about delivering information – it’s a tool for cultivating relationships and connections that foster understanding and trust. Sharing others’ stories with the public is a big responsibility, and one I don’t take lightly. I’ll always aim to write accurate, true, authentic stories that share all perspectives. I’m hopeful my mindset and approach enhances your confidence in me as a journalist, and reassures you the information you’re receiving is honest and dependable.

Hometown: Pittsburgh, PA

Education: I graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a minor in French.

Family: The majority of my family lives in the South Hills region of Pittsburgh, but the distance has never deterred them from fully supporting me and my news career. Even when I’m more than 600 miles away, my family is adamant about watching me go live during our daily newscasts and always texts me words of encouragement after every live hit. I also have family members who live in the Mount Pleasant and Aiken areas of the Palmetto State.

Hobbies/Interests: I’m a huge nature girl who has always had an unfaltering affinity and appreciation for the outdoors. Since many of my days as a reporter are often spent looking at a computer screen, I like to spend my free time reconnecting with Mother Nature by practicing yoga, hiking, camping, boating, or kayaking. I also love a good adventure and am always down to travel or visit somewhere new, especially places rich with history.

Favorite Books/Movies: My all-time favorite movie is Grown Ups… or really any Adam Sandler movie. When I’m not cackling at a comedy, I’m probably watching some type of historic action/adventure/drama film like Inglorious Basterds, O Brother, where art thou?, The Imitation Game, The Help, Amsterdam, or Full Metal Jacket. My favorite book of all time is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid- I highly recommend all of her books!

Likes best about the Lowcountry: Living and working in the Lowcountry provides a daily reminder of how tranquil our natural world is. I’m a sucker for a good sunset, and the ones here are truly unforgettable. The iconic live oak trees draped with the wispy Spanish moss creates a natural grace and gentle movement, mimicking the relaxed way of life here. The history of this area is just another added bonus, showing there’s an endless supply of stories just waiting to be told. Another highlight is the sense of community. There’s a warm and welcoming spirit in the air, and it makes you feel like you’re a part of something special.

Most interesting assignment: Something I love about my job is that every day is different, I’ve had the opportunity to cover a plethora of different topics, but when it comes to the most memorable, it has to be when the Chinese Balloon was shot down in Myrtle Beach in 2023. I was on my lunch break when my producer called me and said all incoming and outgoing flights were just grounded, and I needed to go to Myrtle Beach International Airport and interview flyers who were impacted by the delays. The balloon was shot down by our air force as I was pulling into the airport. The impact was so intense, my laptop that was sitting in the back seat of my news car catapulted to the front. I covered this story for a week and was even present when a U.S. Navy vessel searching for balloon debris came ashore to restock supplies. That was really cool to see.
