HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The state Department of Health on Thursday confirmed another travel-related dengue case on Oahu.

This brings the total number of cases in the state this year to 15 and 10 on Oahu. There have also been four on Maui and one on Kauai.

State officials said the affected traveler was exposed to various countries where dengue is common.

Dengue virus is spread from infected person to mosquito to person. While Hawaii is home to the type of mosquitoes that can carry dengue, the disease is not established here, and recent cases have only been found among travelers.

Symptoms of dengue range from mild to severe and typically include fever, nausea, vomiting, rash and body aches.
