Search underway for third runaway inmate from Hawaii Community Correctional Center
HAWAII ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The search continues for a third inmate that ran away from the Hawaii Community Correctional Center back in December.
HCCC inmate Clyde T. Loa, 31, remains at large and authorities said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Loa is 5-foot-7, weighs approximately 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
He is serving time for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle and unauthorized possession of confidential information.
Authorities said the two other inmates have been found and apprehended.
Park rangers at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park arrested Kawai J. Pomroy, 41, within the national park on Tuesday afternoon.
Pomroy was charged with second-degree escape, first-degree car theft, and first-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. He was also arrested and charged on a warden’s arrest warrant for a furlough violation.
In addition, police officers arrested inmate Joseph C. Fernandez, 36, at the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision in the Kau District Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024.
The three men were reported missing from Hale Nani on Dec. 13.
Anyone with information on Loa’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Sheriffs Division at 808-586-1352.
