HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The front has stalled over the Kauai Channel, with showers continuing to impact Oahu and Kauai.

Lingering moisture combined with an upper disturbance moving into the area will keep rainfall chances up through the end of the week, as well as introduce a chance for thunderstorms.

Thursday is a low-grade First Alert Weather Day. That means the approaching storm system is expected to bring disruptive weather at times with sporadic downpours and unstable conditions.

During the day Thursday and into Friday, the front is expected to weaken and moderate trades will fill in. As trade winds gradually return, the focus of rainfall will shift to windward and mauka areas later in the week through early next week.

A High Surf Warning remains in effect for most north and west facing shores through 6 p.m. Thursday. Surf may hold at advisory levels for these same areas Thursday night into Friday, before dropping below the advisory threshold. Another near advisory level NW swell is due over the weekend, with more bigger swells expected next week.
